Alamance County Avoids Computer Ransomware So Far

You might remember we told you last year about a computer attack on GTCC, where cyber criminals shut down the system at the school, demanding ransom be paid before they would unlock the computers. Several other schools and county governments had the same problems last year as well. The State Attorney general’s Office says there were at least 17 ransomware attacks throughout North Carolina last year, including Chatham and Orange counties, as well as the one at Guilford County Community College. They tell us 6 counties, 3 cities, one town, 5 public school districts and 3 colleges and universities were hit last year.
