ABSS Will Be Offering Summer School To Catch Up

The North Carolina General Assembly is still working on a bill to try and help our kids catch up from the educational losses caused by the Governor’s shutdown of public schools. One of the bills would require all public schools to offer at least 6 weeks of summer school. Parents could still opt out of sending their kids though. Another bill would focus on 3rd grade reading, which educators say is key to success in the rest of the kids' lives. The last time the General Assembly passed such a bill, the Governor vetoed it, even though he has claimed repeatedly that early reading skills are a priority for him.
